STATE FUNDS WATER PROJECTS.(CAPITAL REGION)

A new wastewater system will be built in Sand Lake, and a dam that broke and drained Beldon's Pond in Troy will be rebuilt, with state funding.

State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, R-Brunswick, provided the funds from the 1996 Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act.

Sand Lake will get $977,500 to build a wastewater collection system along the north portion of Crooked Lake, along Eastern Union Turnpike and the southern portion of Crooked Lake along Methodist Farm Road. This will extend the system around the entire lakeshore.

The project's total cost is $1.45 million, with a local match of $472,500 from the town.
