Qld: Saw company boss charged over business partner's murder
The owner of a saw-sharpening business has been charged with murdering his former businesspartner after an inquest into the death.
LAURIE STEVENS, who was subpoenaed to give evidence at the coronial inquiry last Octoberbut claimed privilege, was today charged with the murder of 31-year-old MURRAY BROCKHURSTon June 22, 2000.
Mr BROCKHURST died from a single bullet wound to the head just as he was about to setup in opposition to Mr STEVENS, who alleged his former business partner had committedsuicide in front of him.
Crown Prosecutor BRENDAN CAMPBELL filed an indictment in Brisbane's Supreme Court todayon behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions to charge Mr STEVENS.
He has been summonsed to appear in court on Friday.
