NSW: Cauldron to feature in revamped Olympic Park
SYDNEY, April 11 AAP - The giant Olympic cauldron is to become the main feature of
a revamped Sydney Olympic Park, New South Wales Premier Bob Carr announced today.
"Australians will flock here to see it, because it reminds us, one and all, of a special
image out of that great event, the best Olympics of all time, delivered by Australians,"
he said.
The cauldron will be lit as part of a ceremony on September 15 marking the first anniversary
of the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
It will also mark the start of the annual Spring Festival at Olympic Park.
The cauldron will replicate the fire and water features of the Olympics' opening ceremony.
Changes to Olympic Park would include new paving and landscaping, Mr Carr said.
